The company was founded in 1996 and delivers an on-demand business performance management service to over 800 clients and 15,000 users.
History
Solver, Inc. was founded by Nils Rasmussen in Los Angeles, California in 1996. The company started by specializing in financial reporting, consolidations and budgeting software and for the next decade, Solver distributed and implemented a software called Enterprise Reporting, often working in partnership with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) companies like Great Plains Software (later acquired by Microsoft). In 2002, Solver brought a next generation, Microsoft Excel-based business intelligence software to the North American market place. This software, called XL Reporter, was acquired by SAP AG in 2005 and since then distributed globally to more than 18,000 companies. In September 2009, Solver made the leap into becoming dedicated business intelligence software company when it released its first ever, complete corporate performance management suite called BI360. Solver distributes BI360 through a global network of partners that sell and implement the solution.

The BI360 software suite consists of five modules: BI360 Reporting, BI360 Planning, BI360 Dashboard, BI360 Collaboration and BI360 Data Warehouse. BI360 is used for corporate and public sector budgeting, forecasting, reporting, consolidation, performance indicator analysis, dashboards.
The application has both browser and Microsoft Excel interfaces and the user interfaces are based a drag-and-drop characteristics of a self-service Business Intelligence business application that can be managed without assistance from IT staff. BI360 is offered both as an on-premise application as well as under an on-demand SaaS-based model.
The SaaS model means customers pay an annual subscription fee to maintain their license, and their instances are usually implemented with a web browser and no IT support.
